Abstract Submission:

The abstract submitter opened June 6, 2006, at 8 a.m. CDT, and closed on Aug. 2, at 5 p.m. CDT.  Abstracts are being reviewed and notifications will be sent in late October.

If we choose your abstract for oral presentation, it will be presented at the Nursing Symposium on Feb. 6, 2007.  If we choose the abstract for poster presentation, it will be presented during the International Stroke Conference on Feb. 7-9, 2007.  Registration will be required for both events. 

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss current clinical research in acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke management.
  • Use hemodynamic assessment data obtained from both clinical examination and instrumentation to construct augmentation strategies aimed at improving tissue perfusion in acute stroke.

  • Discuss secondary stroke prevention programs that use risk factor assessment and strategies to modify lifestyle behaviors.

  • Discuss the impact of stroke on the life of survivors and their families and strategies to assist survivors and families to successfully adapt to stroke.

  • Describe best-learned lessons from those who have successfully obtained Primary Stroke Center Recertification through JCAHO.

  • Identify initiatives, projects, policies, and research relevant to measuring and improving the quality of care and outcomes for persons with or at risk for stroke.

Ground Transportation
SuperShuttle offers service between San Francisco International Airport, Oakland International Airport and conference hotels at a discounted rate of $26 round trip.  The one-way fare is $13. Purchase tickets online or download a coupon for on-board use. Taxi fares range from $40 to $50.

BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit)
BART is a convenient, inexpensive way to get to downtown San Francisco.  Trains depart every 15 to 20 minutes from the BART Station in the International Terminal at San Francisco International Airport.  The fare is only $5.15.  If you are flying into Oakland, go to the AirBART shuttle stop on the traffic island.  For $2, the shuttle takes you to the Coliseum BART Station, and from there the fare to downtown San Francisco is just $3.35 (or $6.70 round trip). The Montgomery Street Station is the stop for The Argent Hotel.  The Powell Street Station at Powell and Market is the closest stop for the Marriott, Parc 55 and Moscone West Convention Center.

Shuttle Service
Morning and evening shuttle service to and from Moscone West will be provided for attendees staying at the Parc 55 Hotel.  Hours of service are:

Parking at Moscone West Convention Center
If you are driving to the International Stroke Conference, the closest parking is the Fifth and Mission Garage at 833 Mission Street.  Rates are $7.00 per 2-3 hours with a maximum of $22.  The garage is open 24 hours a day.
